Ordered this breadmaker from another well known cooking site. The first loaf came out with 1/2 of it not raised and there was a terrible oil type smell from it. So tried it again figuring the smell had burned off. Same result on bread and the terrible smell was still there. The terrible ugly odd shape of bread you cannot be proud of. Returned it and recieved another one. We put all the mixings into the pan and got ready to enjoy this breadmaker and it is dead!!! Power light lights up, timer counts down but nothing else happens!!! I will not try another one. It is being returned for a refund and that will be my last T-fal appliance!! Total JUNK!!!!!!

I had a Hitachi bread machine in the early 90's when they were very popular We loved using it and it made great bread. The only down side was that the loaves were small (1.3 lb.). After we moved to a new house, the bread machine went into the basement and was forgotten. My daughter became interested in baking bread, so we dragged it out and tried to use it. Sadly, it no longer worked. I spent quite a bit of time researching the options for a replacement. I selected this one because of the large loaf size and the other features. We've used it almost daily ever since. I've used some of the recipes that came with the machine and some that I found online. We've made sandwich bread, French bread, whole wheat bread, brioche and dough for pizza, hamburger rolls and cinnamon rolls. Everything has been fantastic! The three pound loaf size makes enough bread to last through most of a week, so it's a huge improvement over the early bread machines. The only improvement I would want is for more instruction on how to decide when a recipe should be prepared on the 2.0, 2.5 or 3.0 setting and which program to use.

This is my first bread machine. I have made baguettes "by hand" a few times in the past with great success. I was very happy with some French Artisian bread I made as well as the corn bread that I made. The first time I made the baguettes, I made a few kneading mistakes, but they were nice and crunchy on the outside (the part I like). The second time, good results, they just seem a bit more "bready" in the center than the longer ones.

The machine works very well and is easy to use. I have a scratch on the inside after only 4 uses (scratch on the non-stick). It could have been there when I opened it, but it's a little disappointing at this point as I'm a very careful person, and it's a young machine.
